2021 Update
By David Ebbrecht
Posted: 2021-04-05T11:29:00Z

We are almost in the full swing of Spring and the year of events are about to kick off.  We are very mindful of the COVID restrictions and will approach the 2021 year accordingly.  We will plan each event by:

  • Checking local guidelines before we plan each event.
  • Briefing all members/guests about precautions before the event starts; during the event, remind guests of these precautions and ensure they are followed.
  • Choosing outdoor venues over indoor spaces – if indoors, ensure the area is well-ventilated.
  • Minimizing crowding, designating seats/places and enforcing physical distancing of at least three feet.
  • Providing all necessary supplies – hand sanitizer or soap/water, tissues, closed-lid bins, masks, etc.

Most events will likely have restrictions which require masks and social distancing at a minimum.  Every member must understand that all events are voluntary and at your own risk and we will see reduced restrictions for those with Vaccines in the near future.  We currently plan to conduct the following events:

2021 Yacht Club events:

April 17 - Skipper’s Meeting for Sailors – Ebbrecht’s House and Virtually on Zoom
April 24 - Blessing of the Fleet - Virtually at 10 am
April 24 - Ice Breaker Party - Ben and Mara Cohara’s House
April 25 - First Sailboat Race
May 30 - Memorial Day Pontoon Poker Run

June 26 - Progressive Dinner Party
July 2 - Light Up the Lake
August 14 - Rays Balloon Race
August 21 - King Series - Party afterwards with Awards
September 5 - Labor Day Pontoon Poker Run
September 25 - Long Distance Sailboat Race - Party afterwards
November 13 - Fall Fling Party
November 25 - Thanksgiving Sail

We will have more details to follow on all events and we are also entertaining more events to accommodate the pontoon and motor boating members.  Please pay attention to the website for regular updates. Also, there has been a lot of great work done on our website (https://www.weatherbylakeyc.org). You can now pay for all your Yacht Club needs on-line on our website. You can also access the calendar to see all upcoming event dates, updates and new additions as the year progresses.

Junior Sailing will start soon, so please pay attention to the website for sign up dates. Any concerns or suggestions can be emailed to me and I will answer as promptly as possible.

Cheers!
